ACC summons ex- army chief Shafiuddin
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned former army chief General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed for questioning over allegations of acquiring illegal assets through various irregularities and corruption.
In a letter sent from the ACC headquarters, he has been requested to appear before the commission on 14 September with a photocopy of his national identity card. The information was disclosed in a notice signed by ACC Director and investigating officer Md Abul Hasnat.
ACC Public Relations Officer Aktarul Islam confirmed the matter on Sunday, 30 August.
The notice said an investigation is underway into allegations against former army chief General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed of acquiring illegal assets through various irregularities and corruption. It said that, in the interest of a fair investigation, it is essential to hear and record his statement.
To conduct the investigation and submit a report, the ACC formed a two-member investigation team, appointing Director Md Abul Hasnat as team leader and Deputy Director Mozammel Hossain as a member.
The notice requested the former army chief to appear at the ACC headquarters at the scheduled time and provide his statement regarding the allegations.
