Khaled takes 5 wickets in County Championship

Hasan Mahmud and Khaled Ahmed played together for Kent in the previous county match. While Hasan Mahmud has returned home due to national team commitments, Bangladesh’s presence in county cricket remains thanks to Khaled Ahmed.

Khaled also claimed five wickets against Lancashire in Canterbury on Tuesday. His superb bowling, Lancashire were bowled out for 161 in the first innings.

Promotion hopefuls Kent skittled Lancashire for 161, with Khaled Ahmed taking 5- 42 and Matt Milnes 4-28, but the visitors’ opening stand of 81 turned into by the far the biggest partnership of the match.

Khaled claimed his second wicket by trapping Rocky Flintoff, son of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff-LBW for a duck.Kent found them in a spot of trouble after losing five wickets for the addition of just 34 runs.

Matty Hurst emerged as a new hope for them. Khaled claimed his third wicket when the batsman, who had scored 37 runs off 61 balls, was caught at slip off his bowling. While bowling his 16th over, Khaled took two wickets in consecutive deliveries.

Khaled also claimed a five-wicket haul by dismissing Mitchell Stanley and Lancashire Captain James Anderson off consecutive deliveries. His bowling figures-15.5-4-42-5-were truly impressive.

This marked the tenth time Khaled had taken five wickets in a first-class innings, and his first such feat in the County Championship in just his second match.

Previously, Hasan had also taken a five-wicket haul while playing for Kent.
