Airport welfare committee gets new leadership

Mohammad Rafiq Islam Sujon and Aviation Security (AVSEC) official Mohammad Ashraf Ali have been elected general secretary and treasurer respectively of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Unit Welfare Committee through what the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh described as a fair and transparent election.

The election was held on Thursday in the presence of outgoing and newly elected members, according to a statement issued by the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority on Friday.

The election was conducted under the supervision of an election committee formed with the heads of three departments at the airport.

Newly elected members exercised their voting rights in a cordial and festive atmosphere, with transparency, neutrality and participation maintained throughout the process, according to the statement.

After the voting, members present congratulated the newly elected general secretary and treasurer and expressed their commitment to extending mutual cooperation for the successful operation of the committee’s future activities.

Under a decision taken at the meeting, the outgoing committee will hand over responsibilities to the newly elected committee by September 7.

The welfare committee will subsequently formally begin its activities under the new leadership.
The outgoing committee welcomed the newly elected committee with floral greetings.

Members of the incoming committee also presented flowers to the outgoing members as a gesture of respect and gratitude during the transition.

The election and handover process are expected to mark the beginning of a new phase for the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Unit Welfare Committee.

Those concerned expressed hope that the new leadership would make the committee’s activities more dynamic.

They also expect the new committee to play an effective role in promoting members’ welfare, strengthening mutual cooperation and maintaining a cordial working environment.

The selection of new leaders through a fair and transparent electoral process, followed by the scheduled transfer of responsibilities, is expected to pave the way for the committee’s next phase of activities.
