



Health authorities have reported 327 new dengue cases and two more deaths from the mosquito-borne disease in the past 24 hours, with the highest number of patients admitted to hospitals in the Barishal division.
According to a statement from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 61 dengue patients were hospitalised in Barishal during the period, followed by 61 in Dhaka division, 48 in Chattogram division and 45 in Khulna division.
The statement said 43 patients were admitted in areas under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 38 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), while 17 were reported in Mymensingh, nine in Rajshahi, four in Rangpur and one in Sylhet.
With the latest fatalities, the total number of dengue deaths in Bangladesh this year has reached 27, while the cumulative number of infections has risen to 8,650.
The country recorded a major dengue outbreak last year, when the disease claimed 413 lives and infected 102,861 people.
In 2024, dengue caused 575 deaths and affected 101,214 people nationwide, according to health authorities.
