Rising public complaints over unexpectedly high electricity bills for June 2026 have prompted the Power Division to intervene, directing distribution utilities and companies to thoroughly examine the matter and take corrective steps where required.
In a press release issued on Monday, the Power Division stated that it has received multiple reports from different sources alleging that electricity bills for June 2026 were significantly higher than those of preceding months.
To minimise customer inconvenience and prevent harassment, the Division has already instructed all electricity distribution organisations and companies to carefully review instances of excessive billing and take appropriate remedial action whenever necessary.
The statement further urged consumers who suspect they have been overcharged to directly contact their respective electricity distribution utility or company. It also advised them to use the designated customer service hotlines that had been previously announced for grievance resolution.
The Power Division has assured that all complaints will be monitored and addressed through the relevant electricity distribution agencies to ensure proper resolution of the issue.
