



A coordinated crackdown by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-2) has led to the arrest of six individuals, including alleged ring leader Farid Ahmed Babu, also known as ‘Excel Babu’, in connection with a machete attack that left two police officers injured during an operation in the capital’s Adabor area.
The arrests were carried out yesterday during an operation in the Shekhertek area under Adabor Police Station, according to RAB. The detained individuals have been identified as Farid Ahmed Babu (57), alias Excel Babu; Abu Sayed (33), Rashed Khandakar (32), Md. Liton (28), Md. Tousif (30) and Md. Tarikul Islam. RAB stated that the group allegedly stormed a bKash agent shop in the Shekhertek-7 area, where they attacked the agent with machetes before fleeing with Tk 300,000 in cash along with a mobile phone. Following the incident, police from Adabor Police Station launched a raid on the suspects’ hideout.
During the operation, the accused allegedly launched an attack on the police using locally made weapons.
In the ensuing violence, Officer-in-Charge Zahidul Islam and Sub-Inspector Tarun of Adabor Police Station sustained serious injuries after being struck by machete blows.
RAB confirmed that legal proceedings against the arrested individuals have already been initiated.
