Bangladesh’s journey begins with spin bowling machine

In-Charge of Cricket Operations of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Shahriar Nafees explained the advantages of spin bowling machines.

He said with it, three types of balls can be played – off-spin, leg-spin and armour. The length of the ball can be changed, the pace can be increased or decreased.

Bangladesh cricket has taken another step forward on the path of modernization. Spin bowling machines have come to Bangladesh, ending a long wait and removing long-standing regrets.

This machine was seen for the first time at the Bangladesh Cricket team’s skill camp at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Monday (April 6). The cricketers who came to practice were seen quite excited about it.

Bowling machines have been seen in Bangladesh before. However, they were used to make them suitable for playing fast balls or bouncers. This time, a spin bowling machine was seen for the first time.

Since there was no spin bowling machine, the coaches were working in various ways with pace bowling machines.

However, from now on, the team will no longer be in hiding, but will be able to prepare with full strength.

Spin bowling machines are usually seen more in countries like England, Australia, and New Zealand.

In those countries, they use this machine because the wickets are not conducive to spin bowling.

On Monday, facing the media, Shahriar Nafees said that this machine was purchased for 10,000 pounds. Which is about 1.6 million taka in Bangladeshi currency.

Nafees said the name of this bowling machine is Marlin Bybola. It was being talked about for a long time.

It was ordered a few days ago. Since the machine is heavy, it was brought by ship instead of by flight of airplane.

Nafees explained what are the advantages of the spin bowling machine. He said it can play three types of balls – off-spin, leg-spin, and armour.

The length of the ball can be changed, and the pace can be increased or decreased.

“It can be operated manually or automatically, in both modes. In automatic mode, 25-30 balls can be played at a time,” added Shahriar Nafees.
