Ed Sheeran’s US tour cancelled after artiste says ‘Free Palestine’
American rapper Macklemore chanted the slogan ‘Free Palestine’ during the opening performance of British pop star Ed Sheeran’s ‘Loop Tour’ music tour at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA.
At that time, he spoke in favour of Palestinian rights and a ceasefire. He highlighted the plight of Palestine. After that, he was removed from the tour’s artiste list.
Due to this incident, all the other fellow artistes have also announced their withdrawal from the tour. Among the artistes who have withdrawn is pop star Billie Eilish’s brother Phineas, who said in
a statement that “artistes should not be silenced for speaking out for oppressed people.”
Irish singer-songwriter Aaron Rowe and Danish band Lucas Graham have also announced their withdrawal. Irish folk band Beoga, who regularly performs on stage with Sheeran, have also withdrawn from the tour.
