MP Suborna calls for swift action on local problems

Bagerhat-4 reserved women’s seat lawmaker Suborna Sikdar said local problems should be identified and initiatives taken to resolve them quickly through coordination among the administration, public representatives and relevant departments.

At the same time, she called for giving utmost importance to people’s safety, improving public services and addressing people’s needs in development activities.

She made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a view-sharing meeting on law and order and overall development, organised by the Upazila administration at the conference room of Morelganj Upazila Parishad on Thursday.

Suborna Sikdar said the overall development of an upazila is not possible for any single institution or individual. It requires mutual cooperation and coordination among the administration, public representatives, political leaders and the common people.

The meeting discussed the law and order situation, communication system, infrastructural development, education, healthcare, citizen services, public suffering and various ongoing development activities in Morelganj.

The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Habibullah, was attended as special guests by BNP-nominated candidate for the Bagerhat-4 constituency Babu Somnath Dey, senior joint convener of BNP’s central weaving party Dr Kazi Moniruzzaman Monir, Upazila BNP President Shahidul Haque Babul, officials of various government and private departments, public representatives, political leaders and local dignitaries.

In his speech, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Habibullah said the Upazila administration is continuing its activities to maintain law and order in Morelganj and accelerate development activities.

He said that, in addition to the administration, the cooperation of public representatives, political leaders, dignitaries and the common people is needed to resolve local problems.
