Month-long screening of timeless classic films at Film Archive
Bangladesh Film Archive is providing an opportunity to watch all the timeless classic films of the old days on the big screen.
A month-long special film screening started from Thursday, said a press release.
Viewers are getting the opportunity to enjoy these films completely free of charge on designated days of the week until April 30.
The exhibition is being held in a state-of-the-art projection hall with a capacity of 300 seats on the second floor of the Bangladesh Film Archive’s own building in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Every Thursday from 6:00pm, all new, old and rare films preserved in the archive are to be open to the public.
The famous film ‘Megher Onek Rong,’ directed by Harunar Rashid, was screened on April 2. The 1 hour 17 minute long film stars Mathin, Omar Elahi, Rawshan Ara, Adnan and many others.
Next week, on April 9, the classic movie ‘Din Jay Kotha Thake’ directed by Khan Ataur Rahman will be screened.
This 2-hour and 32-minute black and white film will take the audience back to the golden past.
The film stars Farooq, Kabori, Anwara, Khalil and Tele Samad in the lead roles.
The colourful film ‘Sujon Sokhi,’ directed by Shah Alam Kiran, will be released
on April 16.
This popular film, starring Salman Shah and Shabnur, has a runtime of 2 hours.
It also stars Anwara and Rina Khan.
In the middle of the month, on April 23, viewers will be able to see the action-packed black and white film ‘Dost Dushman,’ directed by Dewan Nazrul.
This 2-hour and 13-minute film will feature Sohel Rana, Wasim, Shabana and Suchorita.
Finally, the colourful film ‘Nasib’ directed by Momtaz Ali will be screened on April 30.
Ujjal, Shabana, Ilias Kanchan and Rozina have acted in this grand event lasting 2 hours and 42 minutes.
The Film Archive regularly organises such events to preserve the history of cinema and introduce the new generation of viewers to the heritage of Bengali cinema.
As the number of seats is limited, interested parties are requested to arrive on time.
