Rabindra University launches 5-day entrepreneurship dev training
A five-day Entrepreneurship Development training programme began at Rabindra University, Bangladesh on Saturday, aiming to equip university students with practical business skills and encourage them to pursue self-employment and innovative ventures.
The programme is being jointly organised by the BSCIC Training Institute (BTI), the training institute of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), and Rabindra University, Bangladesh.
Professor Dr Md Abdus Sobahan, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Rabindra University, attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, while Professor Dr Md Jahangir Hossain, Treasurer of the university, was present as the special guest.
Dr Md Forhad Ahmmed, Principal of the BSCIC Training Institute and General Manager (Planning and Research), BSCIC, presided over the ceremony.
Among others, Jannatul Mawa Moon, Chairman and Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology; Md Jabead Iqbal, Chairman and Assistant Professor, Department of Bangla; Proshanta Kumar Podder, Acting Chairman and Assistant Professor, Department of Management; Md Tarequl Islam, Assistant Professor (CSE), Department of Management; Babul Hossain, Lecturer, Department of Music; and Ekramul Hasan, Lecturer, Department of Economics, attended the event.
Md Tanjim Hossain, Associate Faculty Member of BTI, is serving as the course director, while Miftahul Jannat Ripa and Md Jubair Islam, both Assistant Faculty Members of BTI, are serving as course coordinators.
The speakers said entrepreneurship development had become increasingly important for sustainable economic growth, employment generation, innovation and self-reliance.
They stressed the need to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, innovative thinking and practical business skills among university students so they could become future entrepreneurs and contribute to building a skilled and self-reliant generation.
The speakers also highlighted BSCIC’s role in promoting entrepreneurship across the country through training, development and support initiatives.
They said developing a mindset among young people of “creating jobs alongside seeking jobs” was essential to expand self-employment opportunities and strengthen the national economy.
The training, being conducted from September 12 to 16, covers practical and technical aspects of entrepreneurship, including business plan preparation, small and medium enterprise management, marketing strategies, financial management and leadership development.
The joint initiative is expected to help foster an entrepreneurial culture among university students, encourage innovative business initiatives and create greater opportunities for self-employment and sustainable entrepreneurship.
