SAFF U-20 Champ: BD-Nepal semi-final today

Bangladesh Under-20 Football team will face off Nepal Under-20 Football team in the semi-final of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-20 Football Championship at the National Stadium in Male, the capital city of Maldives today.

The match will kick-off at 3:45pm (Bangladesh Standard Time).

A total of seven teams splitting into two groups are taking part in the SAFF Under-20 Championship, the most prestigious football meet for the youth of South Asian Region.

Bangladesh, India, Pakistan were in Group-B, while Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka were in Group-A.

Bangladesh became the Group-B runners-up bagging four points from two matches, while India emerged the Group-B champions gaining four points from as many outings.

Though Bangladesh and India collected four points each but by virtue of better goal difference India became Group-B champions.

On way to semi-final, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by two goals to nil in their first Group-B match on March 24. Sulivan of Bangladesh scored all the two goals.

Bangladesh drew 1-1 with India in their second Group-B match on March 28.

On the other hand, Nepal emerged the Group-A champions grabbing seven points from three matches, while Bhutan became runners-up of Group-A collecting four points from as many matches.

On way to semi-final, Nepal defeated Bhutan by two goals to one in their first Group-A match on March 23. Nepal beat Sri Lanka 1-0 in their second Group-A match on March 25.

Nepal made a 1-1 draw with Maldives in their third Group-A match on March 27. The final will be held on May 3.
