Zayyan joins camp directly after arriving from the USA

Zayyan Ahmed, a young expatriate footballer of the United States of America (USA), has returned to Bangladesh after a long absence.

The left-back has joined the national team’s camp in preparation for the ASEAN Cup. Zayyan is thrilled to reunite with his teammates after such a long time, and his excitement is evident in his words.

The coaching camp has been held in the Bashundhara Sports Complex in the capital. Zayyan Ahmed joined the coaching camp on Tuesday.

Bangladesh Football team are set to participate in a FIFA tournament for the first time through the ASEAN Cup. Ahead of this historic event, Zayyan secured special permission from his club to join the national team’s camp earlier than scheduled.

On Tuesday morning , Zayyan Ahmed joined the training session under Head Coach Thomas Dooley. Speaking to the media, he discussed his goals and preparations.

Zayyan said, “It feels great to be back with the Bangladesh Football squad and to see my teammates again. Training is going well.

The weather here is quite hot, so I need to adapt to the conditions quickly. I arrived early. I had informed my club that I would come ahead of schedule because the ASEAN Cup is a major tournament.”

The Bangladesh Football squad are currently busy preparing for the ASEAN Cup. Head Coach Thomas Dooley is conducting two training sessions daily to get the players ready. Several new expatriate footballers have also been included in his plans.

Among the newcomers, Japanese-origin Shuki Itofusa and USA-origin goalkeeper Saif Kerawala have already caught the eye. Speaking about his experience with the new teammates, Zayyan said, “Newcomers like Saif and Shuki are adapting to the team very quickly. Despite some language differences, our understanding on the field are excellent.”
