What Srilekha says, calling Modi ‘autocratic’
The announcement of a programme to light lamps in every house of the country on the occasion of the 76th birthday of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been met with strong anger from the general public and popular actress Srilekha Mitra of West Bengal.
Srilekha described the call to light lamps in the midst of severe flooding and skyrocketing prices in India as a ‘painful irony’.
The actress also called Modi and his ruling party ‘autocratic’.
In a post on Facebook, Srilekha wrote, “People are being asked to light lamps.
What a strange contradiction… Such a demand after turning our lives into hell! It’s like a painful irony.”
The actress also called the surrounding situation a ‘gross mockery’ and a ‘dark age’.
