A few days ago, the name ‘Inside Out 2’ was shining at the top of the list. This movie from Pixar Animation Studios, released in 2024, earned 1.698 billion dollars.

Disney’s ‘Zootopia 2’ surpassed this movie to set the record for the highest-grossing animated movie in Hollywood history.

The movie, released on November 26, earned 1.706 billion dollars worldwide in just eight weeks.

“The success of ‘Zootopia 2’ is a credit to the audience,” said Alan Bergman, co-chairman of Disney Entertainment, in a statement.

“We are grateful to directors Jared Bush, Byron Howard, and producers Yvette Marino, and the entire team at Walt Disney Animation Studios, whose tireless work made this extraordinary film possible.”

Although ‘Zootopia 2’ has broken Hollywood records, China still holds the record for the highest-grossing animated film in history.

China’s ‘Ne Zha 2,’ released in January last year, grossed $2.215 billion at the box office. Film insiders believe that Hollywood animation studios will not be able to break this record anytime soon.

The first episode of ‘Zootopia’ was released in 2016. Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, this movie tells the story of a strange kingdom called Zootopia. Zootopia is a city of animals.

All animals live together. A rabbit named Judy Hopps wants to become a police officer. Judy gets a job in the police department as the first rabbit after overcoming various obstacles.

But within a few days of her job, mysterious incidents start happening in the city. Judy is not a man to be trifled with. She is determined to solve the mystery.

In the second episode of ‘Zootopia’, Judy Hopps sets out to uncover a new mystery. The arrival of a mysterious reptile causes chaos in the entire city.

The police administration is alerted. Judy Hopps is tasked with chasing the reptile. In this episode too, her companion is the cunning fox Nick Wilde.
