Hanging body recovered from tree

Police recovered the hanging body of a man named Firoz Mia, 40, from a garden in Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur on Thursday morning.

The body was recovered from a tree in Gachhua Para village under Moyeenpur Union of the upazila on Thursday.

Firoz Mia was the son of the late Afsar Uddin of the same village. The incident has caused concern among local residents.

Mithapukur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Ruhul Amin said police recovered the body from the scene after receiving information about the incident.

He said the body had been sent to the morgue of Rangpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
The OC added that it would be possible to determine whether Firoz had been murdered or died by suicide after receiving the autopsy report. An investigation is underway to uncover the actual circumstances surrounding the death, and necessary legal action will be taken, he said.

According to family members and local residents, Firoz left home after having dinner on Wednesday night and did not return. Early Thursday morning, a local resident found his body hanging from a rope tied to a tree inside the garden. After the matter became known, locals informed the police.

Eyewitnesses said the body was found hanging from the tree and that some unusual signs were observed at the scene. However, the exact cause of his death could not be determined immediately.

The deceased’s mother, Saleha Begum, claimed that her son had been killed and his body was later hung from the tree. She demanded a proper investigation into the incident and punishment for those responsible.

Police have not commented on various speculations among local residents. Law enforcement officials said the cause of death could not be confirmed until the investigation is completed.
