Govt agencies urged to speed up solar power adoption

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam has urged relevant government departments and agencies to accelerate efforts to introduce solar power at government offices and institutions.

“The relevant departments and agencies should advance their work according to their respective action plans and regularly review the progress of implementation,” he said, stressing that activities to introduce solar power must be implemented quickly.

He made the call at a meeting at the conference room of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division at the Secretariat, according to a PID release.

The state minister said he would soon inspect activities on the ground to install solar power systems at various government institutions.

The meeting reviewed ongoing activities and the implementation progress of action plans prepared by concerned departments and agencies to increase the use of solar power in government offices and institutions.

Participants also discussed ways to reduce electricity costs at government institutions through greater reliance on solar power and expand the use of renewable energy.

The meeting stressed the need for relevant agencies to take necessary initiatives to implement their solar power action plans at field-level offices as well as offices and institutions located in Dhaka.
