3 bodies of a family found in Manikganj

The recovery of the bodies of three members of the same family from their home in Manikganj has caused a stir in the area.

According to preliminary police information, a man named Ekram Hossain killed his wife and one-and-a-half-year-old child before hanging himself from a fan. The incident occurred at Jannakandi village in Krishnapur union of Sadar upazila on Saturday afternoon. The reason behind the tragic incident could not immediately be established.

According to police and local sources, Ekram Hossain first killed his wife Priyanka and then their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Eliza by battering their heads with a brick. He then hanged himself from a fan in the house. On receiving news, police went to the scene and recovered the three bodies.

Locals said Ekram Hossain had been living abroad and had returned to the country a short time earlier. No confirmed information was immediately available on whether there had been any dispute or family conflict between him and his family members.

As news of the incident spread, local residents gathered at Jannakandi village. A pall of grief has descended over the entire area. The deaths of three members of the same family in this manner have raised various questions among locals.

Md Monir Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Manikganj Sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident, saying: “On receiving the news, we sent police to the scene.

The incident is being investigated. Only after the investigation will it be possible to confirm why Ekram Hossain killed his wife and child before taking his own life.

The bodies have been recovered, and the process of sending them to the medical college hospital morgue for an autopsy is under way.”
