Iranian strikes wreak havoc on US bases

A leaked secret report from the Pentagon has revealed a startling picture of the extent of damage suffered by the US military in its conflict with Iran.

While Washington had previously attempted to downplay its losses, the document from the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General reveals major setbacks to US power projection in the Middle East.

According to the report, between February and June, the US lost hundreds of buildings and military structures, along with at least 30 MQ-9 Reaper drones and numerous fighter aircraft.

During these four months of conflict, weapon expenditure alone reached nearly $22 billion, pushing total operational costs past $33 billion. Despite US President Donald Trump’s assertions of an inexhaustible arsenal, the Pentagon report acknowledges critical ammunition shortages and major supply chain disruptions.

Continuous strikes by Iran and its allies leveled hundreds of infrastructure units across US bases in the Gulf region, including facilities in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Jordan.

Direct combat operations resulted in the deaths of at least 11 US service members, with over 400 others wounded. Aircraft destroyed both in air operations and on the ground include F-15E fighter jets, advanced F-35A stealth aircraft, aerial refueling tankers, and various types of helicopters.

The attacks extended beyond military installations, repeatedly targeting US diplomatic missions and embassies across Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Repairing and securing these diplomatic facilities has cost an estimated $184 million.

With the Strait of Hormuz currently near total closure, the ongoing diplomatic and military confrontation between the two nations has plunged the Middle East into heightened instability.
