23 held from mosque on suspicion of militancy in city

Police have apprehended 23 people on suspicion of militancy during a “confidential meeting” at Tejgaon College in city’s Farmgate area.

A senior police officer of the Tejgaon Division corroborated this information to the media on Friday.
They said, “Twenty-three people have been arrested from Tejgaon College during a secret meeting.

We suspect they are involved in militant activities. Officials from the relevant ATU (Anti-Terrorism Unit) and CTTC (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) units have come.

They are sorting out the matter. Details can be released officially at a later time.”

They added, “They were arrested based on intelligence.

Their case is being investigated.” The detainees are currently in the custody of law enforcers from Tejgaon Police Station. Officials at the police station say that the CTTC chief is on his way there.
