Mirza Abbas to return on Wednesday

Mirza Abbas, a member of the BNP Standing Committee and Political Advisor to the Prime Minister (holding the rank of a minister), is returning to the country next Wednesday (September 2) night after undergoing medical treatment in Singapore and Malaysia for five and a half months. He is scheduled to land at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9 PM that day on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.

Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP’s media cell, confirmed this information to the reporters. He stated that the Member of Parliament for the Dhaka-8 constituency has largely recovered after receiving advanced medical treatment abroad. He decided to return to the country only after receiving a positive recommendation from a medical board comprising specialist doctors.

Earlier, on March 11 of this year, Mirza Abbas suddenly fell seriously ill while breaking his fast during the holy month of Ramadan. He was immediately admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital that same night, where he underwent emergency brain surgery.

Subsequently, as his physical condition deteriorated, he was flown to Singapore General Hospital via air ambulance on March 15 for advanced medical treatment. After showing some improvement there, he was transferred to Prince Court Medical Centre in Malaysia on April 14, following medical advice. He had been under the close supervision of specialist doctors there ever since.

On August 1, while undergoing medical treatment abroad, Mirza Abbas was appointed by the government as the Chairman of the Hospital Management Committee of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). He was assigned this responsibility through an official notification issued by the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
