Rizvi, Aman in top leadership

The BNP has appointed four senior leaders, including Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, to its National Standing Committee, the party’s highest policymaking body.

The three others are Aman Ullah Aman, Farhad Halim Donar and Md Ismail Zabihullah, according to a party press release issued on Saturday.

The press release, signed by BNP Assistant Office Secretary Muhammad Munir Hossain, said the appointments were made in line with party decisions and with the aim of bringing greater dynamism to organisational activities.

Rizvi has long served as the BNP’s senior joint secretary general. Aman previously served as convener of the party’s Dhaka North unit, while Farhad Halim served as acting convener of the same unit. Ismail Zabihullah is also a member of the BNP Chairman’s Advisory Council.

The BNP said it expects the four newly appointed members to contribute to key party decisions through their experience and advice.

The party last held its national council on March 19, 2016, after which the National Standing Committee was reconstituted. Several positions later fell vacant due to deaths, resignations and other reasons, and the BNP has been filling those vacancies in phases.

The latest appointments add four leaders to the Standing Committee at the same time.
