60 judges transferred

The government has reshuffled the lower judiciary by transferring 60 judges from their existing posts to new places of posting.

The law ministry issued five separate gazette notifications on Thursday containing the orders for the transfer of judicial officers with the ranks of district judge, additional district judge, joint district judge and senior civil judge.

The transfers were made in consultation with the Supreme Court, according to the notifications.

Earlier in June this year, the government transferred 22 judges holding the rank of district and sessions judge as part of an administrative reshuffle in the judiciary.

On November 25 last year, the then interim government made a major reshuffle in the judiciary by promoting, posting and transferring a total of 826 lower court judges in a single day.
