South Point students shine in SSC 2026 results

Students of South Point School & College have once again demonstrated their academic excellence in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examination 2026, maintaining the institution’s long-standing record of good results.

Of the 831 students who appeared for the examination from the institution, 826 passed. A total of 423 students secured GPA-5, accounting for 51 percent of the examinees. Besides, 329 students obtained an ‘A’ grade, 54 secured ‘A-‘, 19 received ‘B’, and one student obtained a ‘C’.The Malibagh campus recorded the highest GPA-5 rate among the campuses. All 313 candidates from the campus passed, with 205 securing GPA-5-a rate of 65.50 percent. Another 102 students obtained an ‘A’ grade and six secured ‘A’.

At the Baridhara campus, all 262 candidates passed the examination. Of them, 123 students secured GPA-5, representing 46.95 percent of the candidates. A total of 116 students obtained an ‘A’ grade, 18 secured ‘A-‘, and five received ‘B’.

All 66 candidates from the Uttara campus also passed.

Among them, 23 students secured GPA-5, with a rate of 34.85 percent. Thirty-six students obtained an ‘A’ grade, six secured ‘A-‘, and one received ‘B’.

At the Mirpur campus, 156 of 160 candidates passed the examination. Sixty-two students secured GPA-5, representing 38.75 percent of the candidates. Sixty-four students obtained an ‘A’ grade, 21 secured ‘A-‘, eight received ‘B’, and one obtained ‘C’.

At the Shyampur campus, 29 of 30 candidates passed. Ten students secured GPA-5, with a GPA-5 rate of 33.33 percent. Eleven students obtained an ‘A’ grade, three secured ‘A-‘, and five received ‘B’.

Commenting on the results, Colonel Md. Shamsul Alam, PSC (Retd.), Principal of South Point Malibagh, attributed the institution’s consistent performance to its emphasis on intellectual development and holistic education.

“Our consistent achievement is primarily the result of our emphasis on academic excellence through intellectual development. Education here is not limited to obtaining certificates.

Through sports and various educational and extracurricular activities, our students are developing into capable citizens with intellectual and personal excellence. As a result, many of our students are also succeeding in highly competitive admission tests,” he said.

South Point School & College offers education in Bangla Medium, English Version and English Medium from Play Group to Grade 12. Established in 2002 with only 200 students, the institution now has around 20,000 students.

The institution currently operates campuses in six areas of Dhaka-Malibagh, Baridhara, Banani, Mirpur, Uttara and Shyampur-each with its own distinct identity, features and facilities.

The Malibagh campus stands on six bighas of land and has a 10-storey building with a large playground.

The Baridhara campus comprises four buildings and a playground. In Uttara, seven bighas of land have been acquired in the RAJUK Apartment Area. Development work is also underway to establish the other campuses on their own premises.

Noted educationist Hamida Ali, former Founding Principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School & College, is the Founding Principal of South Point School & College. Engineer M. A. Rashid, a prominent industrialist, philanthropist and head of Karnaphuli Shipbuilders, is the founder and proprietor of the institution.
