July Museum offers free wheelchairs to visitors with special needs

The July Museum has introduced a free wheelchair service for visitors with special needs to make the museum more accessible and ensure they can explore its exhibitions comfortably.

The service became operational on Tuesday morning, allowing visitors with physical disabilities to collect wheelchairs directly from the museum’s main entrance.

The museum has also ensured wheelchair-friendly pathways across its premises and exhibition halls to help visitors move around without barriers.

Under the arrangement, visitors accompanied by family members or relatives can operate the wheelchairs themselves. Those visiting alone can receive assistance from trained volunteers assigned to guide them throughout their visit.

“The July Museum is a place of memory and sentiment for every citizen of this country,” said its Director General Ehasan Mahamud.

He said the service had been introduced to ensure that physical limitations did not prevent anyone from learning about history or visiting the museum.

Alongside family members, volunteers would be available to help visitors explore the entire museum without difficulty, he added.

“We want to build the July Museum as a completely inclusive and open institution for all,” Mahamud said. Visitors and their family members can access the free service by contacting the museum’s main gate upon arrival.
