Measles death toll rises to 837

Two more children have died from suspected measles-related complications in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths linked to the ongoing outbreak in Bangladesh to 837, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The latest deaths, recorded until 8:00am on Friday, were classified as suspected measles fatalities by the DGHS.

With the new figures, the number of suspected measles deaths has reached 741, while confirmed measles deaths remain at 96 as no new confirmed fatalities were reported during the period.

One of the latest suspected deaths was reported in Sylhet division and the other in Barishal division.
Meanwhile, 900 new suspected measles cases were recorded in the 24 hours, taking the total number of suspected cases nationwide to 128,310.

The health authorities also reported 185 new laboratory-confirmed cases during the period, bringing the total number of confirmed measles infections to 16,059.

Since March 15, 2026, a total of 110,987 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country, of whom 106,859 have recovered and been discharged, according to DGHS data.
