New Navy chief meets PM

Newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Khondkar Misbah ul Azim on Saturday paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister’s Office, where they discussed maritime security, modernisation of the Bangladesh Navy and enhancing its professional capabilities.

During the meeting, the prime minister and the newly appointed Navy chief exchanged views on issues related to maritime security, strengthening the Navy’s operational capacity and other matters of mutual interest.

According to a release issued by the PM’s Press Wing, Tarique Rahman praised the professionalism of the Bangladesh Navy and highlighted its important role in protecting the country’s sovereignty.

The prime minister also wished Vice Admiral Khondkar Misbah ul Azim success in carrying out his responsibilities as the Chief of Naval Staff.

His appointment comes at a time when Bangladesh continues efforts to enhance maritime security capabilities and modernise the Bangladesh Navy.
