Dengue death toll rises to 214

Three more people died of dengue and 1,432 others were hospitalised across Bangladesh in the 24 hours until 8:00am on Saturday, taking the disease’s death toll this year to 214.

The latest figures were released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the three deaths, two were reported in Dhaka Division outside the Dhaka city corporations, while one occurred in Dhaka South City Corporation, according to the DGHS.

The latest fatalities came as dengue hospitalisations continued to rise across the country.

At present, 5,066 dengue patients are receiving treatment at different hospitals nationwide.

Since January 1, a total of 71,536 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country.
Of them, 66,256 have recovered, according to DGHS data.

The latest figures show that 214 people have died of dengue in Bangladesh so far this year.
