15 injured as bus crashes into tree in Dasar

At least 15 passengers were injured after a passenger bus lost control, crashed into a roadside tree and fell into a ditch in Dasar upazila of Madaripur on Saturday.

The accident occurred around 5pm in the Karnapara area on the Dhaka-Barishal Highway.

According to highway police and eyewitnesses, a Labiba Paribahan bus left Dhaka for Barishal in the afternoon. When it reached Karnapara, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The bus then crashed into a tree on the right side of the highway before falling into a roadside ditch.

Khokon Jamaddar, station officer of the Kalkini Fire Service in Madaripur, said the passengers narrowly escaped a major accident. “Several passengers were injured, but all of them are out of danger,” he said.

Local people rescued the15 passengers injured and took them to nearby hospitals and clinics for treatment.

Firefighters from the upazila fire service rushed to the scene and helped rescue the injured.

The accident also disrupted traffic on the highway. Highway police reached the spot and brought the situation under control after about 30 minutes.
