‘I am slowly losing my ability to hear,’ Anusheh

Singer Anusheh Anadil, whose renditions of songs such as ‘Tomar Ghore Bosot Kore’ and ‘Ghaate Lagiya Dinga’ made her one of the most recognisable voices in Bangladeshi folk fusion, quietly disappeared from the music scene at the peak of her career.

Once a regular presence at concerts, Anusheh’s sudden absence left many fans wondering why she had stopped performing.

Addressing the long-standing curiosity, the singer revealed that she has been gradually losing her hearing due to tinnitus, a condition that has made performing increasingly difficult.

In this regard, the singer said, “I just wanted to be honest about why I no longer sing. I am slowly losing my ability to hear.

I have something called tinnitus. And the noise in my ear is so loud that I can no longer stand loud noises. It literally hurts my ears.”

Anusheh added that doctors had advised her to use hearing aids, but she found that they worsened her condition.

She said, “The doctors asked me to wear hearing aids, but that dependency is making me hear even less and my tinnitus worse.

So I stopped wearing them.” The singer also shared that the condition has influenced her lifestyle, prompting her to seek a quieter environment away from the city.

“This is why I prefer living in the village. It’s quieter and easier on my ears,” she said.
