Taskin, Shoriful rise in ICC ODI rankings

Bangladesh fast bowlers’ spectacular rise in world cricket was reflected in ICC rankings once again.

The latest ODI rankings, released on Wednesday, showed that Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam made significant progress in the bowling rankings.

Taskin climbed nine places to 12th while his fellow pacer Shoriful Islam moved up two places to 11th.

Taskin’s rise follows his impressive bowling performance in the ongoing tri-nation series featuring Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

He claimed three wickets against Zimbabwe early in the series, although Bangladesh suffered a 99-run defeat.

Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has bolstered his position at the top of the ODI bowling rankings. His rating has risen to 742 after he took four wickets for 17 runs against Zimbabwe.

Rashid leads Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed, who is second, and South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj, who is third, by 80 rating points.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan batter Sediqullah Atal has leapfrogged 12 places to 20th in the ODI batting rankings following his impressive innings of 102 off 110 balls against Zimbabwe.

Pakistan’s Salman Agha and England’s Ben Duckett have also made gains in the ODI batting rankings following the series in Rawalpindi. Salman has moved up to 12th, while Duckett has risen to 13th.

There have also been changes in the T20I rankings following the India-West Indies series. West Indies captain Shai Hope has climbed two places to ninth in the batting rankings.

Fellow West Indies batter Sherfane Rutherford has moved six places to 18th, while left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie has climbed 10 places to 26th in the bowling rankings.
