Shops, shopping malls to close by 8pm again

With the Durga Puja extension now over, the regular 11am-to-8pm schedule has resumed

The special extension of opening hours for shopping malls, markets and shops during the Durga Puja festival has ended.

From Friday, the previous schedule has been reinstated, allowing these establishments to remain open from 11am to 8pm following the rules set by the Power Division to conserve electricity and manage power consumption.

During Durga Puja, shopping malls, markets and shops had been permitted to stay open until 10pm.
However, with the extended hours period now over, businesses have returned to the previous schedule from Friday.

On Oct 5, the Power Division extended the opening hours of shops by two hours to 10 pm for the Puja holiday.The shops are usually open from 11 am to 8 pm.

The government has adjusted the opening hours of shops several times this year as part of power conservation and energy management.
