NCP central committee reorganised

The National Citizen Party (NCP) on Friday reorganised its central committee, retaining Nahid Islam as convenor and Akhtar Hossen as member secretary.
The reconstituted committee has 195 members and includes a 16-member political council, which is the party’s highest decision-making body.

The party named Hasnat Abdullah, a Member of Parliament, and Nasiruddin Patwary as senior joint convenors. Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuyain and Sarjis Alam were appointed senior joint secretaries.

All four have moved up from earlier organisational roles. Hasnat previously served as the party’s chief organiser for the southern region, while Patwary was chief coordinator. Asif was the party’s spokesperson, and Sarjis was chief organiser for the northern region.

Arafat joined the NCP in February this year, about a month before the national election, bringing his nine-year journalism career to an end.

Since joining the party, he has handled media-related responsibilities at the central level while working to expand its political presence in his home district of Kushtia.

He is also a co-founder of July Memories, a digital archive documenting graffiti, songs, slogans and poems from the uprising. The website features photographs of around 10,000 pieces of graffiti collected from 11 districts across the country.
