Speaker leaves for Qatar with PM’s condolences

Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, MP, left Dhaka for Qatar on Tuesday on an official visit during which he is scheduled to meet the Emir of Qatar and convey Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s condolences over the death of the country’s former Emir.

The Speaker departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:20am for the Gulf nation.
During the visit, Hafiz Uddin Ahmad is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

On behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, he will also convey condolences and express sympathy over the death of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who is widely regarded as the architect of modern Qatar.

The Speaker is expected to return to Bangladesh on July 16 after concluding his official visit to Qatar.
