A Dhaka court on Sunday dismissed a petition seeking permission to file a criminal case against former chief adviser Muhammad Yunus, former health adviser Nurjahan Begum and two former officials over allegations of negligence related to a measles outbreak and the death of a child.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam rejected the petition under Section 203 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, finding no grounds to accept the case. Bench assistant Ashikur Rahman confirmed the order.
The petition, filed by Sirajul Islam on 5 July, also named former Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Director General Dr Md Abu Jafar and former chief adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam as accused.
