SAM platform gets new body

A new 21-member executive committee of the Safe Agriculture Movement (SAM) platform has been elected at its annual general meeting in Khulna on Saturday, with Bahalul Alam becoming president and Zahidur Rahman general secretary.

The meeting took place on Saturday afternoon at the office of Inspire Consultancy Bangladesh on Khan Jahan Ali Road in Khulna city.

It was chaired by the outgoing president, Bahalul Alam. Debprosad Sarkar, executive director of Lokoj.

attended the event as a guest speaker.

The meeting began with a review of the organisation’s activities over the past year.

Participants also discussed ways to make the movement more dynamic, strengthen its organisational structure, and prepare for future challenges.

Following the discussions, members unanimously approved the new 21-member committee.

The newly elected leaders said they would prioritise ensuring farmers’ safety at the grassroots level, promoting safe food production practices, and raising public awareness about sustainable agriculture.

Members present at the meeting expressed their full support for the new committee and pledged to work together to further strengthen the Safe Agriculture Movement Platform.
