Reza Hasan new DC of Sylhet

Md Reza Hasan has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate of Sylhet.

The appointment was confirmed through a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday (June 28).

The notification was signed by Md. Islaeel Hossain, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Field Administration-2 Branch.

According to the notification, the transfer and posting order, issued in the public interest by order of the President, takes immediate effect.

A 29th BCS cadre officer, Md. Reza Hasan is currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Cumilla.

In the same notification, Ms. Rozi Akhtar, Deputy Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, was appointed as the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Cumilla.

It may be recalled that the government removed Md. Sarwar Alam from the post of Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Sylhet on June 21 amid widespread discussion and criticism over the district administration’s intervention in the centuries-old customs and traditions of the Hazrat Shahjalal shrine.

Sarwar Alam handed over his responsibilities on June 22 and left Sylhet. The government subsequently attached him to the Ministry of Public Administration.

So far, no new government assignment has been announced for him.
Following his departure, Pinky Saha had been serving as the acting Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Sylhet.
