



A stakeholder meeting was held at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) on Tuesday to address issues related to student’s housing, security, and overall welfare. The meeting brought together university officials, local authorities, law enforcement representatives, and landlords from surrounding areas.
The meeting, held at the university’s administrative building, was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Mashud. In his remarks, he stressed the need for a safe, supportive, and positive residential environment for students and underscored the importance of coordinated efforts among the university administration, landlords, and local authorities. He also called on all stakeholders to play a responsible role in safeguarding students’ interests and ensuring their well-being.
Among those present were Prof Dr Mohammad Abu Yusuf, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Humanities and Chairman of the Security Committee; Registrar Engr Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan; and Director of Student Welfare Prof Dr Md Hasan Ali. Landlords providing accommodation to KUET students in the Phulbarigate, Khanabari, Telegati, Maheshwarpasha, and Jogipole areas also attended the meeting, along with local public representatives.
Officers-in-Charge from Khan Jahan Ali, Daulatpur, and Arongghata police stations, as well as university officials responsible for security and administration, were also present.
The discussion focused on ensuring safe and adequate housing for students, strengthening coordination between the university and local administration, addressing student concerns more effectively, and improving the overall law-and-order situation in the surrounding areas.
Landlords and law enforcement representatives assured the meeting of their full cooperation in promoting student safety and welfare. Participants also expressed their commitment to maintaining close collaboration in the future to support the well-being of KUET students.
