EBL marks environment day

Eastern Bank markes World Environment Day 2026 by organising an interactive session titled "Leaders Driving Sustainable Change" at its head office in Dhaka on Thursday. Hassan O. Rashid, EBL Managing Director; Dr. Md. Enamul Haque, National Director of SOS Children's Villages Bangladesh; Armana Ahmed, Head of Development, and Dr. Asadulghani, Head of Biosafety, Biosafety Office, icddr,b and Shihab Ahmed, Chief Sales Officer of Shanta Holdings Ltd. along with senior management from EBL, development partners were present among others.

Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) marked World Environment Day 2026 with an interactive session, “Leaders Driving Sustainable Change”, at its head office in Dhaka, underscoring its commitment to sustainable banking and environmental stewardship.

Aligned with this year’s global theme, “Inspired by Nature, For Climate, For Our Future”, the event brought together leaders from business, development and sustainability sectors to discuss how institutions can accelerate progress towards a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.

Speakers included Dr Md Enamul Haque, National Director, SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh; Armana Ahmed and Dr Asadulghani of icddr,b; and Shihab Ahmed, Chief Sales Officer, Shanta Holdings Ltd.

EBL Managing Director Hassan O Rashid said, “Sustainability is no longer a choice; it is a business imperative.
