Tigers-Kiwis 1st T20I today
Bangladesh Cricket team will face off New Zealand Cricket team today in the first Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket match at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram. The match will start at 2:00pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live.
Captain of the Tigers Litton Das will lead his side, while Captain of the Kiwis Tom Latham will lead his team.
Litton Das said, ” We shall try to win against New Zealand.”
Earlier, Litton Das said that he did not want to take the New Zealand team lightly in any way, they wanted to play their best cricket. Litton still wants to play with the Kiwis like the other big teams.
On Sunday, at the press conference in the match-venue, Liton’s assessment of the New Zealand team is, “New Zealand team have big name. They played the final in the last T20 World Cup as well. They may have some new players, but as a team they have a lot of potential. Our aim will be to play the best cricket we have played against the big teams so far.”
The wicket was a bit slow in the ODI series. Litton did not want to comment much about the wicket for today’s T20I match. However, he is hoping for a good wicket. He said, “I saw the wicket – the wicket will be equal for both teams. I cannot say until the game is played, but it seems like it will be a good wicket.”
Litton also talked about his performance at the press conference. He played an innings of 76 runs with the bat in the last match of the ODI series. Although not a big one, he sees spending more time on the wicket in recent innings as a positive. He said, “The good thing about batting is that I may not have scored big runs in the last two series but I have been able to spend a lot of time on the wicket. Since the format is different, the runs will come from you the more time you spend. I will try to maintain that consistency.” “However, in T20s, sometimes when playing with an aggressive mindset, there will be failures, it’s normal, he added.
