Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have seized 140,000 Yaba pills from the Palangkhali border in Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team from Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) took position in the Guiza Canal area of Baharpara and challenged a suspected drug smuggler attempting to enter Bangladesh from Myanmar.

Sensing the presence of BGB personnel, the suspect fled towards Myanmar, abandoning a bag he was carrying, according to a BGB press release.

The recovered consignment, estimated to be worth Tk 4.20 crore, was found packed inside plastic bags.

Ukhia Battalion Commander Lt Col Md Zahirul Islam said intelligence surveillance has been intensified to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspect.
