BCB in search for new talent

Several fast bowlers for the Bangladesh national team have emerged through the ‘Pacer Hunt’ program.

Among them are Rubel Hossain, Shafiul Islam, and Ebadot Hossain. Many other fast bowlers have also been discovered thanks to this BCB initiative.

The process of scouting for fast-bowling talent had been suspended for the past few years.

It’s now restarting-this time on a much larger scale. The initiative was inaugurated at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka on Tuesday.

For the first time in the country’s history, a nationwide “spin hunt”-alongside the usual pacer hunt will be held. Female bowlers also having the opportunity to participate.

The sponsor Robi is associated with this bowler hunt once again,. The event kicks off on the 27th of this month and will take place across the country’s eight divisions, including two venues in Dhaka.

Coaches associated with the national team setup will take charge of grooming these bowlers; the team will include Mohammad Salahuddin, Sohel Islam, Corey Collymore, and Mushtaq Ahmed. Additionally, selectors will be present on the field for the women’s team.

Identifying talented fast bowlers or spinners from the country’s remote regions will be a major responsibility.

The BCB will arrange for modern training and proper care for the selected bowlers, with the ultimate goal of producing quality bowlers for the national team and the talent pipeline.

BCB President Tamim Iqbal said, “We have found talents like Rishad and Ebadot. Many others have also emerged. I hope we will find someone exceptional in the bowling hunt this time as well.”
