Massive drive by Titas Gas to remove illegal gas connections

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC are continuing its ongoing drive to identify and remove illegal gas usage and connections.

As part of regular operations, on Wednesday, an eviction drive was conducted in Noyapur Bazar and Shikdar Bari, Sadipur areas under Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj district.

The operation was led by Suha Tavil, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Narayanganj, along with the Regional Sales Division-Sonargaon and Zonal Sales Office-Sonargaon of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC.

During the drive, illegal distribution lines were removed and disconnected at two locations.
Two illegal lime factories were disconnected, along with approximately 2,300 residential double-burner connections. In addition, 92 feet of pipes of various diameters were seized. As a result, an estimated daily gas loss of around Tk 2,56,800 was saved.

On the same day, another operation was conducted in Keraniganj Model Police Station area under Metro Dhaka Sales Division-2, Jinzhira Branch of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC. The drive was led by Milton Roy, Senior Assistant Secretary and Executive Magistrate. Illegal distribution lines at two sites were dismantled. Connections to two unnamed wire factories were disconnected, and approximately 240 feet of GI and MS pipes were seized/removed, resulting in an estimated monthly gas saving of Tk 12,21,565. The service lines of each factory were cut from the source line at a depth of 6/7 feet underground.

In addition, under the leadership of the Regional Vigilance Branch, Mymensingh of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC, operations were conducted in Muktagacha and Shambhuganj areas of Mymensingh to remove illegal distribution lines. During the drive, 11 residential and 1 commercial connection were disconnected.

Furthermore, the Vigilance Branch (Metro Dhaka North) conducted an operation in Metro Dhaka Sales Division-4, where an illegal connection to JS Washing was disconnected based on a complaint.
Additionally, under official directives to reduce system loss and increase revenue collection, Titas Gas intensified drives against illegal gas connections in Narayanganj areas under ABDI Narayanganj.

Operations were carried out in JOBI Narayanganj, JOBI Fatullah-Kutubpur, and JOBI Enayetnagar-Kashipur. A total of 39 connections were disconnected, including 19 illegal connections, 8 cases of excess usage beyond approval, and 12 cases of arrears, affecting 315 double-burner connections.
Moreover, under the leadership of the Regional Revenue Branch, Sonargaon, 7 residential connections were disconnected during another drive against illegal distribution lines.

Separately, under the Regional Sales Division, Joydebpur, operations were conducted in Kunia Madhyapara, Board Bazar, Gazipur under JOBI Joydebpur to remove illegal distribution lines. During the drive, 64 connections were disconnected, including 21 due to arrears, 16 for excess usage beyond approval, and 27 illegal connections, affecting approximately 136 double-burner connections. Around 130 feet of pipelines were also seized.
