New approach to non-surgical pain care in BD
Dr Monzur A Khoda, a specialist in interventional rheumatology, is developing a specialised pain and joint-care centre in Dhaka aimed at expanding access to non-surgical treatment options for chronic pain and musculoskeletal conditions.
The initiative, Regenexx Pain Solution Bangladesh, is being developed as a centre combining interventional medicine, regenerative medicine, rehabilitation and lifestyle-focused care.
Chronic pain, arthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders can affect mobility, productivity and quality of life. Against this backdrop, the centre plans to use detailed diagnosis and patient selection before considering procedures and other forms of intervention.
The planned procedures include platelet-rich plasma (PRP), autologous biologic preparations, bone-marrow-derived concentrates and micro-fat preparations.
Selected interventions will be performed using high-resolution ultrasound guidance to help identify and target specific anatomical structures, according to the centre. Its broader approach will also incorporate hyperbaric oxygen therapy, pulsed electromagnetic or magnetic field therapy and MLS M8 robotic laser technology.
Exercise, nutrition and lifestyle management will form part of the overall care approach, which the centre describes as the “Regenexx Protocol”.
Dr Khoda has stressed that regenerative medicine should not be regarded as a universal solution. He said proper diagnosis, patient selection and realistic expectations were essential before treatment.
Dr Khoda completed his MBBS at Rajshahi Medical College & Hospital before obtaining MRCP in Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom, where he also underwent specialist medical training.
His clinical interests include rheumatology, autoimmune diseases, interventional pain management and regenerative medicine.
The long-term plan for Regenexx Pain Solution Bangladesh includes developing a wider network of pain and joint-care centres across Asia and the Middle East.
Dr Khoda has also received professional recognition, including membership of the American College of Physicians and Diplomate status from the American Board of Regenerative Medicine in 2025.
In 2024, he received a Best Poster Award at the Global Orthopedic Summit in Dubai for research related to regenerative approaches to knee osteoarthritis.
He has also been featured twice in Forbes Magazine and in The Khaleej Times, and was ranked among the top 100 global personalities by The Worthy 100.
