Tigers-Kiwis 1st ODI today: We don’t underestimate NZ: Miraz

Bangladesh Cricket team will face off New Zealand (NZ) Cricket team today in the first One Day International (ODI) cricket match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur. The match will start at 11:00am (Bangladesh Standard Time).

The game will be aired live by private satellite sports channel T Sports from the match-venue.

Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team Mehidy Hasan Miraz will lead his team, while Captain of New Zealand Cricket team Tom Latham will lead his side.

Bangladesh Cricket squad took part in their practice session at BCB-NCA Ground on Thursday. BCB-NCA Ground is adjacent to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

On the other hand, New Zealand Cricket squad participated in their training session at Indoor Practice Centre in ‘Home of Cricket’ on the same day.

Before today’s clash, the Tigers and the Kiwis faced each other in 46 ODI matches. Of them, Bangladesh registered 11 victories, while New Zealand won 34 matches and one game ended without any result.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz said about the Kiwis team on Thursday, “We don’t underestimate the New Zealand Cricket team. As professional players, every match is very important for us and we will try our best.

We will try to bring good results for us. If we can win the series, it will be a big achievement for us. Since we have a ranking issue and this series is very important for us.”

Miraz was given the responsibility to lead the Tigers in the ODI format last year. His team won two series under his captaincy then.

This time, the Tigers are going to take the field under his leadership in the series against New Zealand.

Miraz said, “The 2027 World Cup is definitely a process and a long-term matter. To get there, we have to maintain the process and play well in the series.

We have played very good cricket in the last two series and the process was good and the players are also very confident.”

Miraj wants to go into the World Cup with confidence, “This has happened many times before. So, I think confidence is very important.”
