One killed as truck plunges into river

A young man was killed after a truck lost control and fell into a river while boarding a ferry in Bajitpur Upazila of Kishoreganj.

The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon at the Patuli ferry ghat area. The deceased was identified as Apon (35), son of Israfil Mia, a resident of Shahpur village in the upazila. According to local sources and police, a cargo truck was attempting to board a ferry from Patuli ghat when the driver lost control. The truck overturned and fell into the river. Apon, who was present near the ghat, was crushed under the truck and died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bajitpur Police Station, S.M. Shahidullah, said police rushed to the scene after receiving the information.
