Bangladesh Hockey team qualified for Asian Games Hockey Competition after defeating Hong Kong, China Hockey team by 3-2 goals in the tie-breaker of a place-deciding match of the Asian Games Hockey Qualifier, which was held in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday.
Bangladesh Hockey team finished fifth to reach the final phase of the Asian Games, which will be held in Aichi Nagoya, Japan in September.
The stipulated 60-minute match was ended 4-4.
Rakibul Hasan of Bangladesh put his team ahead in the third minute of the match.
Pak Ko Parco Au of Hong Kong equalized the margin in the fifth minute of the play.
Amirul Islam made it 2-1 in the fifth minute of the game after a counter attack.
Ishtiaq Ahmed of Hong Kong leveled the margin in the 31st minute of the clash.
After the intermission, Ashraful Islam of Bangladesh broke the dead-lock after scoring a goal in the 41st minute of the game.
Kuldeep Singh of Hong Kong made it 3-3 in the 46th minute of the encounter.
Ashraful Islam increased the tally into 4-3 in the 47th minute of the play.
Felix Chi Him Iu of Hong Kong leveled the margin in the 48th minute of the match.
As the allotted 60-minute game ended in a 4-4 draw, the fate of the match was decided in the penalty shoot-out.
Obidul Joy, Roman Sarkar and Fazla Rabby of Bangladesh successfully struck one time each on the board.
On the other hand, Kuldeep Singh and Felix Chi Him Iu netted one each.
