Kings win, Fortis lose to Police
After a busy international football season, Bangladesh’s domestic football has returned to the field. Two matches of the Federation Cup were held on Tuesday after a three-week break. Bashundhara Kings won, but Forties FC lost.
Bashundhara Kings defeated Arambagh Krira Sangha by a huge margin of 5-0 in their Group-B match of the Federation Cup Football at Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on Tuesday. Dorielton scored a pair of goals for the team. Rakib Hossain, Sohel Rana Jr. and Faisal Ahmed Fahim scored one goal each.
In the 18th minute of the match, Brazilian Dorielton gave the Kings the lead. After a corner was blocked, Fahim crossed from the corner with the ball.
The Brazilian star Dorielton jumped a lot and headed the ball into the goal. In the 22nd minute, Rakib’s cross from the right and Fahim, who was standing in the gap in front of the goalbar, doubled the lead with a placing shot.
After the break, Emmanuel Sunday pushed the ball into the net in the 52nd minute, under the feet of Arambagh goalkeeper Azad.
Bashundhara Kings took a 3-0 lead. In the 55th minute, Dorielton made it 4-0 with another low cross from Fahim. And in the 66th minute, Arambagh goalkeeper Azad blocked Fahim’s shot. But the ball was not out of danger. Sohel Rana Jr. made the team’s scoreline 5-0 with a shot from the middle of the box.
The reigning champions had drawn their previous two matches in the Federation Cup. Finally, they saw a victory. With this win, Kings moved to second in the table with 5 points from three games. Arambagh, who are at the bottom, have not yet seen a win.
In the other match of the day in Group-B, Fortis FC lost to Bangladesh Police Football Club by 1-2 goals at Bashundhara Kings Arena. Fortis came to the field against Police FC from the top of the table.
Although they advanced, they lost 1-2 to Police. With this win, Police moved to the top of the table with six points after playing three matches. Okafor of Fortis FC put his team ahead in the 37th minute of the play.
After the lemon-break, Kagimu of Police Football Club leveled the margin in the 66th minute of the match.
Rahul scored the match-decider in the 79th minute of the game.
Fortis are third with five points from four matches.
