DU gears up for Pohela Boishakh celebrations

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Sayema Haque Bidisha attended the program as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the preparatory activities.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Faculty Dean Prof Dr Md Azharul Islam Sheikh, while Ekushey Padak-winning artist Prof Dr Abdus Sattar spoke as the special guest, reports media.

DU Proctor Prof Saifuddin Ahmed, assistant proctors, faculty members, students, cultural figures, and artists were also present. In her address, Prof Dr Sayema Haque Bidisha expressed appreciation to the faculty’s teachers, students, and alumni for undertaking preparations ahead of the New Year celebrations. She said preliminary activities had already begun through various committees formed for the occasion.

She added that the Dhaka University administration is working to ensure the Bengali New Year is celebrated in a peaceful, orderly, and festive atmosphere, and called for everyone’s full cooperation to make the celebrations successful.
