LGED holds workshops to finalise climate-resilient infrastructure materials

Two workshops to finalise the draft script of a documentary and the layout of factsheets on climate-resilient infrastructure were held at the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) headquarters on Wednesday.

The workshops were organised under the Lessons Learned and Best Practices Video Documentation initiative of the Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Center (CReLIC), operating under the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming Project (CRIMP) of LGED.

LGED Additional Chief Engineer and CReLIC Director Kazi Saiful Kabir chaired the workshops, while LGED Chief Engineer Md Belal Hossain attended as the chief guest.

In his remarks, Belal Hossain said LGED is continuously working to develop innovative and durable infrastructure to address the risks posed by climate change.

He said the documentary and factsheets would enrich CReLIC’s Knowledge Management System and serve as useful references for policymakers, development partners, local government institutions and other stakeholders.

Kazi Saiful Kabir said the feedback and recommendations received during the workshops would help improve the quality of the documentary and factsheets.

He said CReLIC aims to properly document and widely disseminate successful models and experiences in climate-resilient infrastructure. The materials, he added, would continue to serve as references for engineers and researchers even after the project ends.

Representatives of Arani Advertising Ltd, the consulting firm engaged for the assignment, also presented their observations through PowerPoint presentations.

The workshops were attended by senior LGED officials, project directors, executive engineers, senior assistant engineers, CRIMP-CReLIC officials and expert consultants.
